The first draft of my PhD thesis is done. Getting here has taken the better part of three years, and putting the final section together this month felt equal parts relieving and surreal. The thesis covers federated learning for intelligent transport systems - trying to answer the question of how you train AI models across distributed infrastructure without ever moving sensitive data to a central server. Writing it all down in one coherent document makes clear both how much ground we covered and how much is still open.

In parallel, Telemyr is expanding. We have made the decision to set up operations in Norway, which means I am in the process of relocating. It is an unusual thing to be packing up your life while also trying to finish a doctorate, but the timing made sense for the company. The logistics and operations work we are doing there is a good fit for the market, and being closer to some of our key partners will help.

I also completed the Claude Certified Architect (CCA-F) certification this month. Working through the material was genuinely useful - less as a credential and more as a way to get rigorous about how I think about deploying large language models in production. Given that Telemyr is an Anthropic partner, it felt important to understand the platform deeply rather than just at the API level. A lot of what I learned maps directly onto conversations we are having with clients about responsible AI deployment.
